Ogilvie enjoy good news story in difficult times.

Monday, April 30, 2012

In spite of the tough economic time that many construction and housebuilding companies have been experiencing over the last 12 months, it was encouraging to see that the Ogilvie Group managed to defy the odds with a rise of 7% in annual pre-tax profits.

Cambusbarron Primary school construct their own home.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Ogilvie Homes took part in the World of Work week at Cambusbarron Primary on Thursday 19th April 2012.

A specially built miniature house was erected and the children were able to have a go at laying bricks, plumbing, doing a first fix and learning all about the different professions involved in the construction industry.

There was also an energy efficiency demonstration and information on how houses are built now compared to how they used to be built, plus masterplanning a development that involved the children in designing their own scheme.

After lunch the children watched a telehandler demonstration highlighting health & safety issues and the possible dangers on a building site, this was particularly popular with the children.

The day went extremely well with everyone enthusiastic and willing to get involved, even the teachers got involved.

Football sponsorship

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Many of us at Ogilvie Homes love sport with a lot of us taking part in different areas, so when our sales advisor at our Maltings development in Carnoustie told us about Carnoustie Panmure Youth Football team’s need for a new kit we were happy to sponsor them.

The sponsorship money paid for the red hoodies that the kids wear to all games (home and away) and also to training on a Saturday in Carnoustie.

The league is a friendly with no tables published, but covers Angus and beyond and so far they have been to Montrose, Dundee Riverside and at home to Lochside.

Carnoustie Panmure are active in the community, and their coach has been supporting the SFA in their schools programme (most recently taking 11-year olds on a Friday afternoon at Carlogie) and are part of a group looking into working with the council to improve sports facilities in the town.

Local hero’s

This year we are proud to be sponsors of the Central FM local Hero awards 2012, honouring local people in specific areas who have gone that extra mile.

Everyone across the Forth Valley will be invited to vote throughout March & April via central FM, local press and leaflets sending in their stories and why they should be nominated for an award.

As a family business based in the heart of the central belt we believe local community is important and so many local hero’s go unrecognised for the good works they do day in and day out, so when we were approached to get involved in these awards, naturally we were delighted.

Good luck to all those taking part and we look forward to meeting the winners at the finals on 17th May 2012.
