Help to Buy (Scotland) maintains threshold for 2018/19

In September 2015, the Scottish Government launched a new Help to Buy (Scotland) scheme preceding the previous one. This would allocate funding to the new build property market over a three-year period.

The original plan was to reduce the threshold you would receive help with each year from £230,00 down to £175,00. The scheme offers house buyers the opportunity to buy an affordable new home from builders participating in the scheme.

Part of the budget was allocated to a ‘Small Developers’ Group’, of which Ogilvie Homes is part of, meaning everyone would have the opportunity to get a foot on the property ladder including first-time buyers to second step buyers.

Whilst the threshold was due to drop further in the 2018/19 sector, the Scottish Government has just announced that they plan to maintain the current threshold of £200,000 throughout 2018/19 for the Small Developers Group.

This is great news for new home buyers who may be struggling to buy anything within the current timeframe, now they have more time to secure their new home and apply for the Government Equity Stake – Help to Buy (Scotland).
