The Area

Clackmannanshire is Scotland’s smallest county where the majestic backdrop of the Ochil Hills can be found at Alva, Tillicoultry and Dollar, often known as the ‘Hillfoot’ villages.
The area was the centre for textile manufacturing and changed weaving from a cottage industry to an industrial business. To the north of the village is the spectacular Alva Glen which cuts into the Ochil Hills, where the Alva burn flows through into the river Devon. Along with a string of historical sites, you will find some of the most beautiful romantic walks through the glens of the Ochils.
Alva is on the main A91 Stirling to St Andrews road with excellent public transport and road links east and west.
