Are you concerned about the environment?
Do you want to save money on your electricity bills?
Almost every day we hear or read articles on the environment and the importance of energy efficiency, making the air cleaner, reducing pollution etc. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in making the country a better place to live in and if it’s saving on my energy bills, then count me in.
However, when Ogilvie Homes decided to put solar panels on all their properties at their new development in Alva, I started to consider why we should use solar power. The obvious reason for transferring to solar power is it uses solar energy, it’s clean and green, it doesn’t produce any greenhouse gases and it doesn’t pollute any part of nature. But then how does that help me? Well apart from living in a greener less polluted atmosphere, there’s the price savings.

The price of electricity fluctuates throughout the day with the middle of the day and early evening being more expensive, mainly due to the demand for power at these times. But with solar power, you avoid these changes and benefit from cheap energy all day.
Solar panels absorb daylight, even on a cloudy day, and transfer that energy into running appliances such as lighting and heating, however, you can also make money from the unused energy that is sold back to the National Grid and on top of that you should receive a quarterly rebate from your power company.
How much money can you save?
It is estimated that a family of 4 living in a three bedroom home in Central Scotland, could save over £200 a year on energy bills.
Just think what you do with that!
If you’re planning on moving home and looking to improve your carbon footfall as well as saving some money, then you should be looking at these stunning 2, 3 & 4 bed family villas at Alva. This is the first development that Ogilvie Homes have rolled out these energy efficient solar panels – could this be the norm for all future developments?
